Meeting Notes April 12th 2017

Joe Kosner  | Published on Tuesday, April 18, 2017
Guest Speaker
This week was a special meeting and not just because it is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. We had the honor of presenting Michelle Meyer with a Paul Harris Fellowship Award. This honor is unique in that Michelle is not a Rotarian, we will not mention what club she serves with, but her work in the community with Mutual Ground has saved countless lives. Mutual Ground has evolved into so much more than a women's and children shelter, they also outreach to those victims of sexual assault and to those at risk.
Michelle is pictured below with her staff at Mutual Ground

Chloe Update

Chloe spent last week in New York with other children whose parents work at the same company as Chloe's father. Together they took in the sights and sounds of New York including seeing Aladdin on Broadway, bike riding in Central Park, Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.

Patty Update

Unfortunately Patty's time with has come to an end and she has returned home to Austria. We wish Patty well in her future endeavors.

Youth Exchange

Our in-bound for next year will be a girl from Romania. Having a student from Romania is a first for our district. We now begin the process of finding host families for her. Contact Joel Huffman if you or anyone you know are interested.

Upcoming dates

May 5-7 District Conference Oak Brook

May 12, 13, and 15 Service project at Mutual Ground

June 24th Installation of President's at Aurora Country Club

June 25th Installation of District Governor

Since Joel was absent someone else had a chance at winning a chance to draw the King of Clubs. Charlie took his turn and did not find the King.

Happy $'s

Tom was happy to report that he received a clean bill of health for someone age 95.
Charlie and his wife Mary were over joyed to learn that Mary's lung disease is no longer present.
Joe was of course happy to see the banner raised and the ring ceremony for THE 2016 WORLD SERIES CHAMPION CHICAGO CUBS!
